Typeit! is a Free Malayalam language editor, where you can type and edit documents in Malayalam.
Typeit! supports five Malayalam Keyboards. They are Inscript (ISM), GIST, Malayalam Typewriter, Panchari and Varityper Phonetic keyboard Layout. Anyone who is familier with any of the above keyboard layouts can use Typeit! with ease.
The user interface is very simple and user friendly. Any user who is familiar with Windows can use this. You can switch between Malayalam font and English font by pressing Caps Lock.
You can change keyboard layouts easily by pressing F2 for ISM, F3 for GIST, F4 for Malayalam Typewriter, F8 for Panchari and F9 for Vertityper Phonetic.
The another feature is hyphenation. Typeit! automatically hyphenate your documents, so that you can export it correctly to other applications. If you don't want hyphenation you can switch off by Hyphenation->Auto Hyphen command from Tools Menu.
It is easy to export the typed text in to other applications. It can be done by two ways. One method is to copy the typed matter and paste in to the other applications such as Word, PageMaker, Quark Xpress etc. Or you can save the document in RTF (Rich Text Format) and import in to other apllications.
By default, Malayalam font is ML-TTRevathi. Font and FontSize can be changed using SetFont Command from Format Menu. You can convert your documents to Unicode. Unicode is very useful if you are using internet.
Typeit! now comes with an English-Malayalam Dictionary. You can select dictionary from Tools menu.
That's all....

Copy to following Fonts:
- Unicode
- Unicode 5.1
- Mono
- MBI
- FML
- EG Series
- MLB-TTRevathi
- MLW-TTRevathi
- Shreelipi

While saving to rtf format in ML-TTKarthika font, some fonts are missing. "inda" malayalam charecter as in "chenda" is not displayed in Word and Wordpad etc in ML-TTKarthika font. How to resolve this issue.
ReplyDeleteAnees, I'm also facing this same problem (Nta in chenta is missing while in ML-TTKarthika font). Can u tell me how u managed to resolve it?
ReplyDeleteKevin, I am facing this problem in MLTT Karthika for long time. Somebody changed the character map of MLTTKarthika and replaced it with MLKarthika character map for the letter NTA.
ReplyDeleteI dont know still I am keeping that version of MLTTKarthika. But it is legaly not correct.
Let me chek and if available, i will send it to you. There is no other solution as far as I know.
Luv, -S-
Could someone please provide me the keyboard layout for 'Panchari' font. I use an English keyboard and need the malayalam mapping keys for 'Panchari'. Please drop me a note at ren_lal@yahoo.com if you have some guidance.
ReplyDeleteNew release of type it 4.72 with unicode conversion is good.If there is a covert option to "MLW" series, it would be more useful,as ML series doesnt display some letters.
ReplyDeleteCould you provide an option to set "MLW-TTRevathi" in addition to "ML-TTRevathi" in Format menu > set font."ML-..." fonts cannot display "ണ്ട" in MS Word like applications. So users can select either MLW or ML fonts.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the efforts
Full support to Anees.
ReplyDeleteSoochi, please help.

i need to know just one thing. i have been using typeit for more than 2 years now. recently i migrated to ubuntu 10.04 from my XP. Is there any way that i can take my typeit to linux platform?
ReplyDeleteSuchi, I am using Varamozhi Editor for typing malayalam. Later I am able to convert that matter(which is in ML-TT Karthika font to ML-TTB Revathi font. But that font is not getting supported in Adobe Pagemaker. Is there any option to convert the matter typed in varamozhi to the default font of Typeit, ML-TTRevathi?
ReplyDeleteAfter inserting the matter into
ReplyDeletePAgemaker, you just select MLTTRevathi instead of other font. That is it. No need of any conversion.

Thanks a lot to you for this wonderful software.
ReplyDeleteI was searching for a Malayalam font converter when I found "Typeit". Your dictionary is far better than the CDAC Dictionary.
I have a humble request - Could you please add the font anagha as a target font in the conversion list. Typeit already has "anagha" font as a source font. This will be of great use to people like me who are using anagha. I have plenty of Unicode documents that need to be converted to anagha font.

Ramu
Raman,
ReplyDeleteI have displayed a badge of Type it logo on the side bar of my Malayalam blog (http://malayalamebooks.wordpress.com)
If you provide a badge, many persons benefited by your software will be willing to display it on their blogs or sites. I feel that more people need to know about your work.

ReplyDeleteDear Sir,
ReplyDeleteLatest font conversion facility in typeit is superb. For a non-typist, type-it is still a utility for converting fonts.
Could you add a "manglish" type writer option in it. If this option available, like varamozhi, non-ISM users can also use this program and it fulfill all needs of a general user. Expecting a "manglish" typing facility in next update.
Thank you
